Shankar Dattatray Nawale born on 25th September, 1977 in India and received B.E.degree from Dr. B. A. M. University, Aurangabad, (MS), India in 2000, M. Tech. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Ph. D. in Electronics Engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), University of Mumbai, (MS), India in 2008 and 2013 respectively.

He has more than thirteen years of teaching experience. He has been a lecturer at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai, MS, from September 2000 to June 2007. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at Sinhgad Institute of Technology, Lonavala, Pune, MS, and was Head of the Department, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering since July 2007, where he has taught the subjects like Electromagnetics, Wave Theory, Antennas and Microwave Engineering.

From September 2010 to February 2011, he was with University of Rome, Tor Vergata, Italy, under the European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus, ‘Mobility for Life’ project where he has worked with an Antenna Lab of DISP and was involved in ‘Designing and Implementation of RFID based Environmental Sensor’. His research is mainly in the area of passive RFID tags and its applications for environmental monitoring.

Shankar has also received a Research Grant from BCUD, University of Pune, MS, from 2011 to 2013 for his research in ‘Design and Implementation of Dual Band Microstrip Filter working at GSM and CDMA Applications’. Shankar has also been awarded with ‘Best Participant Award’ at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in December 2009 at an AICTE Approved workshop on ‘Fundamentals and Recent advances in Microwave Engineering’, due to his active participation throughout the period.

Shankar has published thirteen articles in reputed International Conferences and Peer reviewed Journals and also co-authored two books.

Recently, Shankar Nawale has received Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship of ten months from European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus program under ‘India4EU’ Project for further research to be carried over at ORSYS group, LCIS Lab at Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP), Valence, France and He has joined this lab from 1st January, 2014. He is currently working on Energy Harvesting in passive RFID applications.
